The Pan-Asia Film Festival, celebrating new independent cinema from across Asia, starts today with something of a coup: a special discussion on the new adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood by screenwriter/director Tran Anh Hung with the director himself, star Rinko Kikuchi and composer Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. Wow! If that wasn’t enough there’s a special preview of the film as the official opening night gala tomorrow night. (Already sold out!)

The festival continues with a very wide selection of films from Tibet, Kurdistan, India, South Korea, China, Iran and Taiwan. These include Hong Sangsoo’s Cannes award winning Hahaha, Hsiao Ya-Chuan’s Taipei Exchanges and several UK premieres such as Yang Yonghi’s Sona, The Other Myself, Xiaoling Zhu’s The Rice Paddy and Majid Barzegar’s Rainy Seasons.

» The festival runs from 1 to 13 of March, and you can find out more on Asia House’s website.
