Based on a well-know manga by Kazuo Koike, creator of Lone Wolf and Cub, Lady Snowblood might be best known as the Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, but it’s also one of the best made samurai exploitation films of its era, mainly thanks to brilliant direction by Toshiya Fujita and cinematographer Masaki Tamura. It stars femme fatale Meiko Kaji at the top of her game, she provides the theme song which was also borrowed by Tarantino on Kill Bill.
