Zhang Yimou’s Blood Simple gets UK release
Eh, Blood Simple? Yeah, you might know it better as A Woman, A Gun And A Noodle Shop or A Simple Noodle Story, but Zhang Yimou’s highly stylised take on the Coen brothers Blood Simple will be released on DVD on 18 April. Can’t quite see the point of yet another name change, but I guess in wanting to capitalise on the Coen brothers current notoriety thanks to all the Oscar nominations (and maybe win?) for True Grit, distributor Momentum wanted to make absolutely sure everyone gets that this is a remake of their classic debut noir thriller.
(It’s not like Zhang Yimou has made any notable films in his own right? Hero, Raise The Red Lantern, House Of Flying Daggers, Not One Less, etc, etc…)
Okay, we get it. And I sure am glad to see it over here. So I’ll shut up already!
