Top marks for the review and the movie. Yes i also thought the character could have been 'Grassopper' 40 years on, considering Caine was about 30 years old in the late 19th Century (lets say 1880) and Craine was about 70 years old when this movie was set in about 1920. And it makes sence that Caine would have changed his name given that he was wanted 'dead or alive' for murder. Also his Shaolin Temple was destroyed along with the Shaolin Monks in 'Kung Fu The Legend Continues' hence Craine/Caine becoming a Wudang Monk.
And as for it possibly becoming a series, yes of course it should have. Us Caine fans would have loved it but alas it could never be after Carradine stupidly killed himself, the stupid wanker.
As Kwai Chang Caine might have said
"the moth that flys around the flame, has dangerous passion indeed".
