The winners of the 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards are announced, to celebrate the excellence that is Korean Cinema…

The annual Blue Dragon Film Awards now in its 37th Edition has just announced its 2016 winners hosted by Kim Hye-soo and Yoo Joon-sang. The awards ceremony are there to celebrate the excellence of film in South Korea considering blockbusters and popular movies of high artistic value released during the previous year. The Blue Dragon Awards and the Grand Bell Awards are the two most popular film awards in Korea.

Best Film

“Inside Men” – Woo Min-ho

Best Director

“The Wailing” – Na Hong-jin

Best Leading Actor

“Inside Men” – Lee Byung-hun

Best Leading Actress

“The Handmaiden” – Kim Min-hee

The Wailing

Best Supporting Actor

“The Wailing” – Jun Kunimura

Best Supporting Actress

“The Priests” – Park So-dam

Best New Actor

“DongJu, The Portrait of A Poet” – Park Jeong-min-I

Best New Actress

“The Handmaiden” – Kim Tae-ri

Best New Director

“The World of Us” – Yoon Ga-eun

Best Music

“The Wailing” – Jang Yeong-gyoo and Dalparan

Best Art Direction

“The Handmaiden” – Ryoo Seong-hee


Technical Award is given to achievement in visual effects, editing, costume design, or action/stunt choreography

“Train to Busan” – Kwak Tae-yong and Hwang Hyo-gyoon

Best Screenplay

“DongJu, The Portrait of A Poet” – Shin Yeon-shick

Best Editing

“The Wailing” – Kim Sun-min

Best Cinematography/Lighting

“Asura: The City of Madness” – Lee Mo-gae and Lee Seong-hwan
